About Us

What do you do as a semiretired scientist (chemist) to make sure life continues to be fun? For me I explore. Specifically I explore nature wherever I happen to be. I wander with my camera and observe and record the fascinating interactions that happen all around us.

Mainly I can be found around Jervis Bay, which we now call home. But I might be in Sydney where we lived most of our life or other parts of Australia as we visit friends or just explore. Or I may be in England or the US visiting our offspring. The world is full of nature and there is a lot to explore.

I guess I have become a naturalist. I slowly wander through the world looking for animals and what they are doing. I observe them, not a quick acknowledgement of their existence, but where possible watching their lives over multiple days and multiple interactions so I start to understand them. Sometimes it will be fleeting interaction and then they are gone, never to be seen again. Sometimes it will be unusual behaviour of a common creature. Sometimes observing an endangered or vulnerable species. Sometimes it will be an observation over multiple days - these are the fun ones!

So please come with me as I explore.

With this web page I am learning and it is not exactly how I want. For example, I cannot work out how to take information I have already written and turn it into a blog. Consequently you will see PDF's added to the end of blogs with the information written up previously. As I learn more this may change.
